In the season premiere we saw that Nina and Addie have ended their relationship. Now, two years later, Nina is better but is still missing Addie a lot. As we open, we find she is babysitting now four-year-old Zoe at Amanda and Tony’s house. If you haven’t seen the episode, stop whatever it is you are doing. Watch S2 E2 here, then continue to the spoilers.
As Amanda is upstairs preparing to get ready for work, she suddenly feels nauseous. She runs into the bathroom and vomits violently. “What the hell was that?” She asks herself aloud. “Food poisoning? No, couldn’t be that…..” Then, it dawns on her that it is something else, something unexpected. “No way! Could it?” She asks herself with a smile and a little fear.

Amanda is almost forty-six years old, the idea of this seems highly unlikely, but it does happen! Did it happen to her? Knowing she has to go to work; she makes the decision to answer the question later. It will be eating at her all day until she can find out!
As she goes downstairs to chat with Nina, she gives her instructions about Zoe. Nina simply tells her that, “everything will be fine. Enjoy your work.”
Amanda gives her little one a hug and heads out the door. While Nina sits back in the rocking chair checking her email on her phone, little Zoe asks her to play. Nina reflects on her friendship with Amanda and Tony which has become a close family bond. Her relationship with Carrie has improved significantly too.

Looking through her email, she sees one she’s been dreading! An invitation to the Annual Charity Benefit for Mental Health Awareness. It’s a cause Nina (and myself) both believe in very strongly. She wants to raise money and awareness. but she can’t stand going to those meetings!! Ugh! This is very similar to a charity I was once involved with. Sometimes those meetings were simply annoying.
She thinks to herself, she wishes could send a check and just show up for the benefit! She also thinks about how her assistant Siobhan is very thorough, as thorough as…. Addie was.
Nina’s heart stings to this day when thinking about Addie. How for a short time she made such an impact on her and allowed her to fall in love again. But it also makes her wonder why is she still thinking of Addie so much?
If you’re thinking that S2 E2 seems more like the season premiere than E1 was, then you’re right. Originally, S2 E1 was supposed to be tacked onto E20. But it made the episode way too long. E20 clocked in at over 1 HOUR once the voice track was completed. I think if I had done that, E20 would have been a very depressing episode instead of an uplifting one. I didn’t want to give Nina (or Team Nina) hope for a new relationship. Then take it away all in the same episode. I feared the episode would surely tank. So I left E20 off with Addie and Nina beginning their new relationship. I opened S2 with where the relationship would progress to or if it would at all.
In this respect, I cut E20 with Nina and Addie being able to explore the possibility of falling in love. When S2 E1 starts it shows that they’ve gotten through the honeymoon phase of a new relationship. They are now dealing with the reality of where they are headed as a couple.
When it turns out that Addie cannot commit to the type of relationship that Nina wants, they end their relationship. It is a tearful and soulful good-bye. But I will say this much as a potential spoiler. That is NOT the last we see of Addie, even after this episode.

As Nina’s thoughts are interrupted by Zoe, she wonders why is she thinking of Addie so much? Is it loneliness creeping up on her again? For nearly two years, Nina has pretty much lived a solitary life. She had a brief tryst with Bristol, the actress she dated before Addie, but otherwise, she has been alone.
Bristol shows up a year after Nina’s break-up with Addie. In true rebound fashion, they go out, have a drink, and woohoo. Bristol then takes off a week later for some other project. Nina is angered about being used as a “pitstop” as she puts it.
You can see Bristol having to rely on her day job in a recent Hayden and Rowan video. I guess she was between movies at the time. Karma. Click the link here.

Nina’s agent Rachel has a favorite expression for Bristol. She refers to her as a skank. I admit when you hear Nina laughing in this episode, that’s me laughing for real. I left it in because I felt it added to the scene. Also, I cannot hear that word without laughing. We all have certain words that make us laugh. For me, it’s skank.

While Nina tries to figure out about how to handle this benefit, she thinks about inviting Carrie and Drake. Yes, for two years, Carrie and Drake have been dating. Carrie is now in her last year at Foxbury, and has applied for a prestigious internship. If she gets it, she will train to be a horse veterinarian in Chestnut Ridge! She’s always wanted to live there, and to train there would be such an amazing opportunity for her!
But….she’s also developed very strong feelings for young Drake. He’s a wonderful boyfriend and she’s having the time of her life. So as her feelings grow for him, she wonders where their lives will be headed. He is finishing up his last year of high school and wants to study farm agriculture in college.
Carrie comes home early from class, saying that the professor called the class early. Her and Nina have a nice conversation as Nina asks Carrie about the upcoming charity benefit. Carrie says she wishes she could go, but it will be right in the middle of her final exams. She needs to be at the top of her game to compete for the internship.

Zoe is also super excited to see her big sister. She runs over for a big hug and tells her that she missed her. Carrie responds with, “Yeah, I missed you too, kid.”
As Nina is about to leave, Carrie asks her to stay a while and talk. Nina is delighted to spend time with her daughter and decides to stay and chat with Carrie.
At around three, Amanda comes home carrying a paper bag. Zoe is asleep on the floor with Floof beside her. Amanda is happy to see everyone together. Carrie asks Nina to stay for dinner, and Amanda agrees. Nina is especially happy to hear that they are having chili for dinner.

Amanda then goes to the bathroom saying, she needs to pee. As she’s in the bathroom another wave of nausea hits her, and Carrie concerned asks, “Ma, you okay in there?”
Amanda, remembering a conversation from her youth, chuckles and responds, “I’m fine, Honey. I’m just pregnant.“
In the E1 S1 season opener, Amanda’s mother tells her she’s pregnant with her brother Robby the same way. I thought it would be cute if Amanda answered her daughter back the same way, as she remembered that conversation. Also, fun fact, the age difference between Amanda and her brother is the same as Carrie and her new sibling.
“Wait! What?” Carrie asks with surprise.
“Pregnant,” Amanda responds coming out of the bathroom.
“Amanda, that’s fantastic!” Nina exclaims.
Amanda is thrilled to tell Tony. Then they talk about who gets to tell who once Tony finds out.

When Tony comes home, he is in a bad mood from having a hard day. He sees everyone at the table enjoying dinner. Amanda jumps up and hugs him and asks about his day. He tells her, “Terrible! The bar was full of idiots! How was yours? Any better?”
“It was good.” She speaks. “I’m pregnant again.”
“What?” He asks with a surprise. “You’re gonna have another baby? We’re gonna have another baby!”
“Yes!” Amanda tells him.
He’s so excited that he kisses her as everyone watches on. Zoe runs over and exclaims, “Daddy! Mommy’s having a baby!”
Then Tony remarks, “And I suppose that the peanut gallery over here knew before I did?”
Nina responds with, “Well, we did have a clue.“
The episode ends with Nine heading out, happy that she was here today to hear this wonderful news. Carrie prepares for her date with Drake. She hopes that tonight she’ll be invited to his upcoming prom. Carrie didn’t go to her prom due to early graduation, so she is super excited to go to Drake’s prom. Tony offers to put Zoe to bed. He remarks that he and Amanda will have the house to themselves.
So, we’re off to a new season with surprises ahead. E2 S2 was hard to keep quiet. I didn’t let anyone except for my husband to watch it. I truly wanted it to be a surprise. So, I hope it was. What are some good names for the baby? Let me know down in the comments. I already have a specific name picked out for a very good reason. But let me see if you come up with the same name that I did.

Thank you for all of your support and helping this series to grow. S2 in my opinion is even better than S1 was. Starting with S7, I’ve been using a new encoder to make the episodes even sharper and clearer. I’m very happy with the results. With DX11 in the Sims4 and the new 4K encoder, the episodes really pop with color. The letterbox format will be gone as well.
S2 is a very different season from S1 as there are not that many times jumps. We await the arrival of Amanda and Tony’s baby, and if Carrie will get accepted into the internship program.

Coming up in E3, Carrie and Drake are on a date in Henford-on-Bagley. They discuss what their future could hold. A conflicted Carrie comes home to confide to Amanda. What advice will Amanda have for her daughter to ease her worries?

We also see what’s ahead for Nina in an upcoming episode which may surprise you in E4. I really like E4 a lot. It’s a lot of fun, and it’s also another feel-good episode too. Plus, things take a very surprising turn for Nina at the Charity Benefit in a way she does not expect. Will Addie be making a return, or will something else happen? We’ll find out.
