Chapter 6: Selvadorada

Spoiler Warning – Stop and Watch Chapter 6 If You Haven’t Already!

Amanda decides after seeing a travel commercial on TV to visit Selvadorada. She’s never been there! She’s always heard stories about it and decides to go see for herself.

Amanda has been divorced now for two years. For six months, since leaving Jack, she’s decided she doesn’t want to date anybody! She’s jaded and hates the idea of ever falling in love again. She also hates herself for her past actions, and the pain her daughter has endured because of Jack. Do not read past this point if you haven’t seen Chapter 6 – stop and watch the video below.

While on vacation, she meets a mysterious stranger who offers to buy her a drink when he sees a “a beautiful sad woman drinking alone.” What a pickup line! Yet, it makes Amanda laugh, and they have a conversation. However now that she’s on vacation she’s finding that this man is interested in her and makes her laugh. She loves the attention and how he makes her feel special. It’s a departure for how she’s been feeling for quite a while. Basically, they don’t waste time. Both of them are looking for a date for the duration, nothing more. They end up spending the night together. Through the first night, although they have no idea what each other’s names are, the two confide to each other about their past. After all, they may never see one another after this so does it matter what’s said now?

As they discover more about each other, Amanda learns the mysterious man in her bed is named Anthony Campos, Tony for short. Through their conversation they realize they are more or less the same. Amanda is tired of hurting others, and herself, and has resigned herself to a solitary lifestyle. Tony, though he has a few friends, is mostly a committed bachelor – who is not interested in a relationship at all.

As he tells Amanda his story, we learn that Tony is a character with a sad backstory. He lost the woman he loved many years ago. Because of that event, he’s decided to live a single and solitary lifestyle, but….

Tony realizes that this woman beside him now is someone he’s been looking for his entire life. He knows that he’s falling in love with Amanda, but he’s also being cautious. At this point, he’s not sure of her intentions. Maybe all she wants is a vacation memory but as he looks into her eyes – he thinks differently.

On their second night together, he offers her a crazy idea. Why not spend the rest of the vacation together and share one hotel room instead of two! They love spending time with each other, and they’ll also save a lot by shacking up, huh? Amanda agrees.

The vacation is one of the best that she’s ever experienced, and seven days spent with Tony feel like another lifetime for her. She’s never felt this strongly for anyone before, and that includes Nina.

On their last day of the vacation, Tony asks to see her again. Amanda agrees, even though she is deeply afraid of these feelings she’s having. Part of her wants to be in love again, and another part is scared of another disaster looming, and is not ready.

Will they see one another again? Chapter 7 is soon!

I am very biased. This is one of my favorite parts of the story. Tony is probably not only my favorite character in the series, but he is also one of my favorite characters that I have ever written about. I couldn’t wait to get to this chapter because not only is it a fun chapter, with a ton of funny moments, it’s a defining chapter.
